The Challenge
Engineering and procuring a 99-meter double skin steel stack at the Shell Refinery in Pernis, Rotterdam presented several challenges:
- Scale and Complexity: The Pernis refinery, one of the largest globally, covers 550 hectares and processes 20 million tonnes of crude oil annually. Shell, as a leading oil and gas company, upholds extremely high standards and stringent quality specifications.
- High Quality Demands: During the design stage, every detail must meet rigorous standards. The client’s expectations are meticulous, demanding careful oversight of every aspect of the project.
The Solution
FERBECK INTERNATIONAL SA delivered a tailored solution:
- Advanced Material Expertise: Selected materials were chosen for their corrosion resistance and suitability for high-temperature applications, enhancing the stack’s durability and performance of the steel stack.
