The Chittagong power plant, situated on the Bay of Bengal about 70km south of Chittagong port city in the Banskoli sub-district, is a 2x612MW ultra-supercritical coal-fired power station. Developed by SS Power I Ltd through a joint venture between Bangladesh’s S. Alam Group and China’s SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction Corporation, along with HTG Development Group, the project operates on a build, own, and operate (BOO) model. It is part of China’s Belt and Road Initiative. FERBECK INTERNATIONAL SA was awarded the EPC contract to construct a 275-meter high concrete chimney for the power plant.
